Identity & Branding
Branding, you say? And how exactly do you define that?
Here's a bit from a *reliable* source:
A brand is a name or trademark connected with a product or producer.
Right. Here's another take on it:
Brands have become increasingly important components of culture and the economy, now being described as "cultural accessories and personal philosophies."
That's more like it.
We tend to think more along the lines of the "personal philosophy" part of that. When you have a great experience with a brand, you walk away feeling good about it. Therefore, it fits with your lifestyle. Likewise, a bad experience creates an equal, but opposite reaction - you vow to never use it again.
We like to share posts that illustrate great branding moments, whether we created them or not. Please feel free to weigh in with your thoughts or tip us off to what we may be missing.
Why your website is not an ad
Let's get one thing straight. Your website is NOT an ad. It's your front door. With an ad, you start the conversation. The customer is listening. You hope they'll respond.
With your website, a person chooses to walk in the door for a reason. Every link they click is a chance for them to tell you that reason. Your site has to anticipate their…

Meet the Stricklands
So I recently had a chance to sit down with Damon and Ashley Strickland and talk to them about a few things, as well as what the future has in store for Campus Cruizers.
That conversation was great and I wish I had recorded it. But I didn't know I would be writing this blog post then, so I didn't.
Instead, I emailed them several questions a few…

Floyd Country Store launches!
NewCity worked with Floyd Country Store to develop an overall strategy for raising awareness of the store as a centerpiece of Appalachian music heritage. Results that speak.
"They've been very receptive to a lot of feedback from me at a design level, as I feel that my role is to make sure that we're protecting the corporate brand but yet developing something new and fresh for the web. They've been fabulous at that."
