NewCity Labs unveils Nomad
This week NewCity Labs unveiled its first major product, called the NOMAD Mobile Guides app. We attended the Association of Partners for Public Lands conference in San Diego to show it off. APPL is an organization for the national parks and the cooperating associations that support them.
We teamed up with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to create NOMAD, but we're developing it as a platform that any travel publisher or destination can use to create mobile…
I went to SXSW and all I got was…
…some really awesome t-shirts actually.
So, a lot of people have asked me how the trip was. Short answer: great! We had a blast at the SXSW conference and frankly can't wait to go next year. I'm pretty sure Dave and I will make the trip over annually. Will we go in an RV? The company is best known for its visual effects work on The Lord of the Rings trilogy and King Kong. Well they also make lazer beeems! Take a look at some of the detail shots – pricey, but these are cool.
The house that NewCity built. (…well kinda.)
NewCity employees took a day off to work on a project house with Habitat for Humanity. We unshackled ourselves from our desk jobs and decided to do some heavy lifting for charity. We divided into teams to handle such tasks as shingling a roof, cleaning up a job site, installing windows, framing, sheathing, pouring foundations, and we are happy to say we escaped with only minor injury to ourselves and others. Results that speak.
We picked the hottest week in August to shoot photos in Arkansas for our website. That alone should have slowed the brain of our director from New City. But no. Good thinking, patient guidance, and persistence resulted in compelling photos to pull eyeballs to our rail safety message.
