When was the last time you bought a light fixture? Did you put a lot of time into the decision? Did you consult a lighting designer? Did your lighting designer then exhaust all standard possibilities, and eventually turn to a custom manufacturer? If so, you may already know about Crenshaw Lighting.
The reality is that custom lighting is not an every day need for many people, which explains why there are only a handful of manufacturers out there. But among them, Crenshaw stands tall, and we’re in the process of telling their story to make sure it stays that way.
Our research has introduced us to several lighting designers and architects who already have their own reasons why Crenshaw Lighting is in a class by itself. One lighting designer told us a story to back up this claim.
He worked with the folks at Crenshaw on an extended project that included the production of Vaseline glass for 26 fixtures designed completely from scratch. Vaseline glass is made by mixing trace amounts of uranium with the melted glass before production. The result is a yellowish-green to green tinted glass that was very popular from the mid-19th century up until WWII. Very few glassmakers still produce this glass today, but that didn’t stop Crenshaw. They guided the process to ensure that every aspect of the fixture was satisfactory to the client.
This experience was enough to convince the lighting designer that Crenshaw’s capabilities simply aren’t available anywhere else in the United States. Check back when we launch the site and you’ll get the chance to see why.
