SARGENT Manufacturing is a long-time client of New City Media. For 2007, they have done a complete redesign, one that has intuitive navigation, detailed content, and stronger branding. In our user testing, we received feedback that “These products are great, but how do I know which one is best for my situation?” After tossing around lots of ideas, we decided to keep it simple. A short bulleted list filled with keywords that gave off good “scent.”
We incorporated more intuitive landing pages for products that allow the user to zero in on the right choice without being overwhelmed. Dynamic tabs allow SARGENT to more easily administrate their content, and display a consistent look and feel across different product lines. New City Media created a custom Content Management System (CMS) for SARGENT that allows them to configure all of the dynamic portions of their website.
Distributors used to make photocopies of the catalog and then fax pages to the client to spec out a job. Now they can create a professional, customized ‘Cutsheet’ online (complete with functions, finishes, and hardware) and download it as a realtime PDF. Users can change the order of the items in their cutsheet simply by dragging them to the right position in the list.
This site garnered an Interactive Media Award - “Outstanding Achievement” in the Manufacturing Category.
